Why SHR pain-free permanent laser hair reduction Not IPL?
Conventional IPL laser hair removal, uses a stamping method of a single laser pulse at each position on the skin with high amounts of heat to destroy the hair follicles. This method heats the skin surface to 70 degrees and can be extremely painful depending on the area treated.
At The Greville Clinic, we utilise TGA approved, SHR pain-free technology for our laser hair removal treatments. Your skin is heated gently through continuous pulsing of the laser and using lower power and a higher frequency. We pass the laser hand piece 6-8 times over the area being treated, until the desired temperature of approximately 48 degrees is achieved. This method is also known as in-motion or rapid pulse technology and allows for permanent hair removal with virtually no pain.
What must I do before my treatment?
Shave any areas to be treated 12-24 hours before your appointment. Avoid excessive sun exposure on the areas to be treated for at least 2 weeks prior. Ensure no tanning lotion, perfumes, topical creams and moisturisers are on the area being treated prior to your appointment. Don’t pluck or wax for 4 weeks prior to your treatment.
How often will I need to get SHR Laser Hair Removal?
Dependent on your hair type, skin type and the area to be treated, you will require treatments every 4-6 weeks until no more re-growth appears. This is usually a series of 6-10 treatments to achieve permanent hair loss dependent on your hair type and the area treated. All body areas have differing hair growth cycles; therefore, hair loss between treatments will vary depending on which phase the hair follicles are in, at the time of your treatment. Full details will be discussed during your consultation with our medically trained dermal nurses or therapists.
Who can have laser hair removal?
Up to skin type 4, providing the colour of the hair is darker than the colour of the skin. A thorough consultation with our medically trained nurses or therapists will be required to confirm your suitability. Grey, pale red, white or white blonde hair cannot be treated.
Will I need maintenance treatments?
Dormant hair follicles at certain stages may become active even though they were not previously active during your treatments. This can occur a year to years after your hair removal was completed and you may therefore require maintenance treatments. This does vary from person to person and generally these areas show minimal re-growth. Details will be explained to you during your consultation with our medically trained nurses or therapists.
